In the past, I wrote extensively about the Keurig coffee making system.
And as a result, Many readers sent quite a few Keurig questions my way.
Here are a few of the more popular ones.
Q: Can a Keurig make hot water?
A: Yes. No matter what make or model of brewer you have – you can use it to make hot water. Just run abrew cycle without a k-cup. Some models like the Cuisinart have a special “hot water” button. If you have this type of model, I guess you could use that instead.
Q: What is “short-cupping”?
A: If this has happened to you, then you know what it is. Short cupping happens when you brew a cup of coffee using your Keurig brewer but you only end up with a partial cup when the cycle is over. Two likely causes is that either you need to descale your brewer (I descale mine monthly – religiously), or your pump is going bad. If descaling your brewer doesn’t solve the problem, put in a call to customer service at the manufacturer. Sometimes they are very helpful – you may even end up with a replacement brewer. Other times, you are just out of luck. Leave a comment with your experience below.
Disclaimer: I do not work for Keurig or any other company that makes Keurig brewers. I have owned 4 separate Keurig brewers (more on my saga later) – so I guess that makes me an experienced Keurig coffee brewer user. I also like to read instruction manuals (weird, I know) so I may be able to give you my two cents worth on your questions. But I have no “official” authority whatsoever. Use the info here at your own discretion.
